There's something about.....

....birthdays.

....getting older.

....getting bored with your hairstyle.

So what happens when you are creeping (okay speeding) towards a HUGE birthday. You know, the last one in your 30's. You decide you are bored with your long hair. Yep, that's what I've done.

I have an appointment with my fabulous friend, Katy, tomorrow to chop off some of my hair. After a FB conversation, with a few friends interjecting...one saying NO & the other saying it's only hair. AND Katy asking me if I needed to be talked off a ledge, she agreed to cut it. Katy LOVES my long hair but understands that I need something spicy.

That said, I'm not going uber short & still need to be able to pull it out of my face (hello gym rat) so we are talking shoulder-ish length. I won't lie. It's been a LONG time since my hair hasn't been half way down my back so I'm a little nervous but equally excited. I've been googling "celebrity shoulder length hairstyles" until I'm green & the best reference I can give you is Kelly Ripa. Still long-ish but can be pulled back & is stylish/fun.

Perhaps I'll share once I do the deed tomorrow ;)

Have you done anything somewhat drastic before a big birthday? Chopped off all your hair, changed colors, moved to another continent? lol

Last year after the NYC marathon I chopped my hair off about to the middle of my neck and dyed it dark brown like Katie Holmes. I survived and now it's almost back to the length it was when I chopped it off. You only live once!!

I will post pics :) And I've done this before only last time I went uber pixie short. Remember when Alyssa Milano did that..so did I! Loved it but won't go that short again!!!

Detroit Runner, that is SO awesome! I will hit 39 next Saturday & will be in the best shape of my life!!!! Kudos to you!!! And nice to have you here :)

I am always teetering back & forth about cutting my hair off again. I think I will do a big change for my 40th (pixie cut ... maybe suicide blonde!!). However, I am planning to get a little more layering this week. Hoping it will help keep me motivated to continue growing it out for now. (I LOVE Alyssa Milano's pixie do from way back when ... I even keep a couple pics of it in my "Hair" folder for future reference. Also love Victoria Beckham's pixie from last year.) I want to see a pic from your pixie days!!!

So funny you wrote this because I just had my birthday in November and I am going through the same thing, sooooooo sick of my natural curls that I have an appointment to permanently straighten it on January 6th. I'm on the fence about it, so I know what you are feeling.

Too funny kiddo! Happy B-day! Go for it! I cut all mine off two years ago and have been growing it out - finally long enough to put in a pony tail:) and get in the way when I do Bb squats.
Wanna see photos girl! Gotta post!
