Argh.

So. I ran today & it didnt feel very good. I'm just not sure what to do at this point. Stupid me wants to just say screw it & push through the half marathon. Smart me knows better.

At this point, I'm just not sure what to do. I know better than to push & cause further injury. I've been fine running up through 6.5 miles. Over that mileage has created issues.

I'm indecisive because I want a goal. I know that I can still run even if I have to end the distance thing. There are 5K's here in the area this spring. And the annual Popcorn Panic 5 miler in the fall.

I need to make a decision with the 11 mile run this weekend. Kevin doesnt care either way. He was running it for me.

I hate feeling like I'm giving up on something. Yet I know I'll press on. It's not like I'm going to sit on the couch & eat bon bons. I'll still run for cardio, still train hard & still keep healthy.

I mean I do have to be a buff bride still!

Argh.

We are the same person..
I feel the same way about my running too. I would love to do another half but my body say different..like you anything over 6-7 miles and my body starts rebelling...my knee start hurting..things like that..

I love running my smaller races. My 5-10k..thye give me a small goal to reach and train for while not becoming obsessed like i use to be...or rather try not to be...lol
Take care..we love you..

What sort of things do you do with regard to your flexibility/mobility and corrective exercise program?

I'm wondering if there's something in the air right now. I've been having the blahs about working out of late - body doesn't want to be pushed like I normally would, and having difficulty just mucking through.

It's not a 'falling off the wagon' thing because eating wise I'm great.

Hoping it's just a normal ebb and flow of energy and will right itself soon. Just glad to know I'm not the only one.

Lady Rois,

Sometimes those feelings can be associated with over-training. Be sure you review your training program from the past several weeks/months to determine if you need to cut back fora week or two.

My unasked for opinion? Don't push it. I made the mistake of pushing through and doing my second half despite chronic knee and hip pain.... I haven't wanted to run since. I literally stopped and started walking at one point.

I wish I had kept running as something fun rather than as a measure of my endurance/dedication. Three years have passed since that race and I still associate running with pain.

And since I have yet to actually tell you - CONGRATULATIONS on your engagement!

Ahem. Devil's advocate here. One could say you'd be giving up on your body by not taking care of what it's telling you about running right now.

I san spin ANYTHING the other way around. Dare me.
